॥Shri Mahaganadhipataye Namah॥

Skandkumar ji says that O sages! All of you listen to this auspicious story written in Purana, in which the result of Ganapati ji's fast has been told.

In ancient times, there was a king named Chandrasen in Satyuga. He lived with his family after taking initiation along with his queen. His queen was very capable and virtuous. Her name was Ratnavali. There was a lot of love between both of them. Once in a war, the enemies snatched his kingdom from him. He captured the treasury and the army.

The king got separated from his relatives. When the kingdom was snatched, the king went to the forest with his queen Ratnavali. Covered with the same cloth, both of them were distraught with hunger and thirst. The king and queen both started wandering in the forest. The sun hid in the evening.

Many animals and birds lived in that vast forest. The king was pained a lot when a thorn suddenly pricked the queen's leg. While wandering in the forest, the king saw Maharishi Markandeya early in the morning. Walking slowly, they both reached there and bowed down to him.

With folded hands to Maharishi Markandeya, the king said - O respected! What sin did I commit in my first birth as a result of which my kingdom was taken away by my enemies? Markandeya Rishi replied O king! You listen to the condition of your first birth. Once you went hunting in a dense forest. While hunting in that forest, it was night and the Chaturthi of Adhikamas had come.

In that forest, you saw a beautiful lake and near it, you saw many snake girls in red-colored sarees. All of them were worshiping Ganpati ji. You were very surprised to see this, you approached them and humbly asked, O ladies! How to worship Ganesh ji? What is its effect? I also want to do this worship.

Nagkanyas replied that you worship Ganpati ji. This gives all kinds of wishes, all achievements, happiness-peace, children, and wealth. The king asked - O serpent girls, in which month and on which date should Ganapati be worshipped? What is the method of its worship? What should be donated to this? You tell me all this.

The snake girls said, O king! Ganesh ji should be duly worshiped on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha of Adhikamas when the moon appears. Worship with devotion according to your power. Offer red flowers to Ganapati after bathing him with Panchamrit. Offer two clothes, a dhoop, a lamp, naivedya, and aromatic substances, and make fifteen laddoos containing ghee, and sugar for enjoyment.

Offer five of those laddus to Ganesh ji and donate five laddus to a Brahmin. Out of the remaining five laddus, first, give them to the virgin girls and then take the prasad themselves and then listen to the story mentioned in the Puranas. By doing this, all the desires of a man are fulfilled and he gets success. This is the method of worshiping Ganesha. Hearing this method told by the snake girls, the king saluted them again and again.

After this, going to the bank of the lake, the king made a resolution in his mind to perform this fast by meditating on Ganesh ji and leaving from there. With the effect of this resolution, Ganesha became pleased with you and filled you with women, sons, wealth, etc. There was no shortage of jewel necklaces, gold, cows, elephants, horses, etc. in the palace. After a few days, you forgot to fast in the pride of money. After that, you died in that birth.

Hey Rajan! As a result of the worship you had done in that birth, you were born in a dynasty and because of having a beautiful body, a beautiful woman, and wealth, you left this fast in pride, due to which you are in such a bad condition. The king asked - O Dwij! What should I do to get rid of this problem?

Markandeya Rishi said that O king! You worship Ganesha as before and fast on Sankatnashak Chaturthi. With this, you will be blessed by Ganapati ji and you will get the happiness of the kingdom again. Sage Vyas says that after hearing these words of Markandeya, the king saluted him and went to his house. The king along with the queen observed a fast with devotion and devotion. By doing this his enemies were destroyed and he regained his kingdom.
