There is a beautiful Puri named Bhadravati on the banks of Saraswati. He was ruled by a king named Dyutiman. That patient truthful king was born in Chandravansh. He was famous by the name of Dhanapal, who had a tendency to work.
He used to make pyau, sacrificial hall, pond, garden, etc. He was Peaceful in nature and a devotee of God, like Vaishya, there were five sons named Dyutiman, Medhavi, Sukrit, and Dhrishta Buddhi.
The fifth son was a big sinner. He was skilled in conversing with the prostitutes and the wicked. He was unjust and evil. Used to destroy his father's wealth and used to eat inedible things. That sinner always used to drink alcohol.
When his father saw him roaming around with his arm around the prostitute's neck, he was thrown out of the house and the brothers also separated him. He also destroyed his body ornaments. Due to the loss of wealth, the prostitutes also condemned him and abandoned him.
Distraught with hunger and clothes, he started worrying that what should I do and where should I go? He went to the forest in fear of his father. Suffering from hunger and thirst there, he started roaming here and there.
Then, like a lion, he started killing antelopes, pigs, and leopards, with a bow and arrow tied in his hand and a quiver in his back, eating non-vegetarian, he started killing birds, animals, chakors, peacocks, conks, pheasants and mice living in the forest.
Apart from this, he started killing other creatures as well. The merciless impudent intellect got stuck in the mire of sin due to the sins of the previous birth. He used to worry day and night due to grief and sorrow.
Due to the rise of some virtue, he reached Kaundinya Rishi's ashram. After saluting the wise sage, he said, “O Brahmin! Tell me such an atonement that can destroy the sins of the whole life without effort, I do not have the money.”
The sage said, “Listen carefully to the remedy by which your sins can be removed. In Chaitra Shukla Paksha, fast on Ekadashi named Mohani. It destroys the sins of humans like Sumeru. By fasting it, the sins of many births are removed.”
Hearing the words of the sage, Dhrishtha's intellect was pleased, and performed the fast according to the method. By observing this fast, his sins were destroyed.
