काश्यश्च परमेष्वासः शिखण्डी च महारथः।

The excellent archer and king of Kashi, the great warrior Shikhandi, Dhrishtadyumna, Virat, and the invincible Satyaki, Drupad, the five sons of Draupadi, and the mighty-armed Abhimanyu, son of Subhadra, all blew their respective conch shells, O Ruler of the earth.
श्रेष्ठ धनुर्धर काशीराज, महा योद्धा शिखण्डी, धृष्टद्युम्न, विराट, अजेय सात्यकि, द्रुपद, द्रौपदी के पांच पुत्रों तथा सुभद्रा के महाबलशाली पुत्र वीर अभिमन्यु आदि सबने अपने-अपने अलग-अलग शंख बजाये।

संजय इस श्लोक में यहाँ पुष्टि कर आरहे यही कि युद्ध शुरू होने वाला है। सब लोगो में अपना-अपना शंक बजा दिया है। यह युद्ध धृतराष्ट्र की वजह से ही हो रहा है क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने पुत्रों की बुराई को प्रोत्साहन दिया है। इस युद्ध से सारा कुरुवंश मारा जाएगा।
द्रौपदी, या पांचाली, के पांच पुत्र थे, जिनके प्रत्येक पिता पांडव भाइयों में से एक था। यहां उनके पुत्रों के नाम उनके संबंधित पिता के साथ दिए गए हैं:
प्रतिविंध्य - युधिष्ठिर के द्वारा पितृत्व किया गया।
सूतसोम - भीम द्वारा पितृत्व किया गया, जो दूसरे पांडव भाई थे।
श्रुतकर्मा - अर्जुन द्वारा पितृत्व किया गया, जो तीसरे पांडव भाई थे।
शतानिक - नकुल द्वारा पितृत्व किया गया, जो चौथे पांडव भाई थे।
श्रुतसेना - सहदेव द्वारा पितृत्व किया गया, जो पांचवे पांडव भाई थे।

Draupadi, or Panchali, had five sons, each fathered by one of the Pandava brothers. Here are the names of her sons along with their respective fathers:
Prativindhya - Fathered by Yudhishthira.
Sutasoma - Fathered by Bhima, the second Pandava brother.
Shrutakarma - Fathered by Arjuna, the third Pandava brother.
Shatanika - Fathered by Nakula, the fourth Pandava brother.
Shrutasena - Fathered by Sahadeva, the fifth Pandava brother.
These sons were collectively known as the Upapandavas and played their part in the events of the Mahabharata epic.
