In this regard, we tell you an old story:

Once Ravana conquered all the gods. Being intoxicated with pride, he went and caught Bali from behind in the evening. The mighty Bali reached Kishkindhapuri through the sky with Ravana pressed against his side and gave Ravana to his son Angad as a toy.

Angad tied a rope around Ravana's neck and started taking him around the city. Seeing this condition of Ravana, the conqueror of the world, all the residents of the city started laughing at him. They started saying, "Hey, just look, this world champion Ravana is being carried on the streets today by Prince Angad." Hearing the words of the townspeople, Ravana felt ashamed and started breathing deeply. His pride was shattered.

He remembered his maternal grandfather Pulastya Muni. Hearing the plight of his grandson, the sage wondered why his grandson was in such a condition. Being too proud leads to the destruction of gods, demons, humans, etc. Coming to Ravana, the sage asked, "Why have you remembered me?"

Ravana said, “O Grandfather! This misery has come to me because of the pride of having conquered the deities. I saw a monkey king while worshiping. On the edge of the Western Ocean, I tried to catch him from behind. But I was caught in his hands. He brought me here by tying a rope around my neck and gave it to his boy to play with.

Seeing this plight, the townspeople laugh at me. I remain sad because of this worry. Being tied to a rope has made me weak. What should I do next? No one else in your clan is going to tarnish the clan like me. Now only you can save me.

Pulastya Rishi said, “O Ravana! There is nothing to be afraid of, I will get you rid of it. Bali Devraj is born from the semen of Indra and is more powerful than you. He will be killed at the hands of Shri Ram, the son of King Dasaratha.

Hey demon king! If you want to get rid of the bondage of Bali, then observe my advice and observe the fast of the destroyer Ganesha. In ancient times, Indra had observed this fast to repent for killing Vritrasura. That's why you also do this dangerous fast. Very soon your trouble will go away.

By giving this order Pulastya Rishi left for the forest. After that Ravana observed this fast, by observing this fast, Ravana was freed from bondage at the same time and started ruling his kingdom happily.
