Ganesh ji said, O mother! Ganesh ji should be worshiped by the name 'Heramb' on Falgun Chaturthi. On this day havan should be performed with Gulabans wood by mixing Kaner flowers in Kheer. According to the opinion of scholars, take ghee and sugar in food.
Let me tell you a story from earlier times about this:
In ancient times, there was a king named Yuvnashwa. He was very generous, pious and a worshiper of gods and brahmins. A learned Brahmin named Vishnusharma lived in his kingdom. He was a knower of the Vedas and a follower of theology. He had seven sons. They were all rich but due to mutual enmity, they all started living separately. Their father used to take food one day at each son's house respectively. But no one respected him.
Gradually he grew old and became weak. He used to cry after being humiliated by his sons and daughters-in-law. Once Vishnu Sharma reached his elder daughter-in-law's house after observing Ganesh Chaturthi fast. He said - O daughter-in-law! Today I observed Ganesh ji's fast. You collect the items of worship. Ganesh ji will be happy and give a lot of money.
Hearing this, the daughter-in-law said in a harsh voice, “Father-in-law, I do not get leave from household chores, I do not have time to indulge in useless activities. You always keep on telling one thing or the other. Today asked to observe Ganesh ji's fast. I don't know Ganesh Vrat and neither do know your Ganesh ji. You go away from here.
Hearing the scolding of the daughter-in-law, he went to the rest of the daughters-in-law's house respectively, but all of them scolded him and chased him away. That weak-body Brahmin was very sad after getting disrespect from everywhere, at last, he went to the younger daughter-in-law's house. The younger daughter-in-law was very poor. Hesitatingly said hey daughter-in-law! Where should I go now? All the daughters-in-law gave me from their house.
You don't seem to have any means to collect the things for the fast. I myself have become very old. O daughter-in-law of Kalyani! I think again and again that by observing this fast one will get success and all sorrows will be destroyed.
After hearing these words from her father-in-law, the daughter-in-law said. Hey father-in-law! Why are you getting so upset? You fast voluntarily. I will also do this fast with you. This will destroy our sorrows. Having said this, the younger daughter-in-law begged from somewhere and made separate laddoos for herself and her father-in-law. Worshiped with father-in-law. After this, the father-in-law was given food with respect. Due to lack of food, you remained hungry without eating anything.
After midnight the father-in-law started vomiting and diarrhea which made both his feet dirty. He washed his father-in-law's feet and wiped his body. She started feeling sad that why did you get in such a condition because of me. Where do I go at night now? Suggest me some solution. Unknowingly, he was also awakened by lamenting all night.
Ganesh ji was pleased with his fast. After some time her husband got a very good job and she also find some work. She kept fasting for Ganesh ji every time and by doing this gradually she saved money. The father-in-law said that all this is the result of your devotion.
Ganesh ji is pleased with your devotion and he has given you so much money just by observing this fast. The daughter-in-law started saying, O father-in-law! Ganesh ji is pleased by your grace. My poverty has gone away and I have got immense wealth. Now other daughters-in-law became very angry after seeing immense wealth in the younger daughter-in-law's house. She started saying that the father-in-law has given all his accumulated money to the younger daughter-in-law.
Seeing the discord between the brothers, Vishnusharma fearfully said that it was not my fault in this. Ganesh ji has given this wealth like Kuber to the younger daughter-in-law only by observing this fast. Hey daughters-in-law, I had earlier asked you to go to your house and observe this fast, but you reprimanded me. The younger daughter-in-law performed this fast by begging. Being pleased with this fast, Ganesha has given him immense wealth.
